Myofuntional Appliances

  • Conventional braces, an orthodontic treatment that has endured the test of time, uses metal brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into proper alignment.
  • The brackets are attached to the teeth, and a wire is threaded through them, applying consistent pressure to shift the teeth over time.
  • While traditional braces may require periodic adjustments, they are highly effective for correcting a wide range of dental issues, including overcrowding, gaps, and bite problems.
  • With their proven success and durable design, conventional braces remain a popular choice for patients seeking long-lasting results.

Myofuntional Appliances

Myofuntional Appliances

  • Myofunctional appliances are valuable tools in orthodontics, particularly for younger patients, as they address functional and developmental issues early.
  • They not only improve oral health but also enhance overall quality of life by correcting underlying problems with oral muscle function and habits.
  • They are primarily used for growth modification i.e. correcting the over/under growth of jaws by using natural muscle forces and guiding the jaws in desired direction.
  • These appliances are typically removable which makes them comfortable, easy to wear & easy to clean,

Habit Breaking

Interceptive Orthodontic

Interceptive Orthodontic

  • Habit breaking treatment is a specialized approach designed to help patients stop harmful oral habits, such as thumb-sucking, tongue thrusting, or mouth breathing, which can interfere with proper dental development and alignment.
  • Using a combination of behavioral techniques and custom appliances, this treatment addresses the root causes of these habits to prevent further dental issues.
  • Habit breaking therapy is often recommended for children, but it can benefit patients of all ages to support healthy oral function and ensure the success of orthodontic treatment.
  • By eliminating these habits, patients can achieve better long-term oral health and more effective orthodontic outcomes.

Interceptive Orthodontic

  • Interceptive orthodontic treatment, also known as early orthodontic intervention, focuses on identifying and addressing potential dental or jaw issues in children while their teeth and jaws are still developing.
  • This proactive approach can help guide proper jaw growth, create space for permanent teeth, and correct harmful habits or misalignments before they worsen.
  • By starting treatment early, orthodontists can often reduce the need for more extensive procedures later and set the foundation for a healthier, more confident smile.

Orthodontic treatment is typically divided into two key phases - the active phase and the retention phase.

  • Active Phase: This stage focuses on correcting malalignments and achieving the desired results. It usually lasts 12 to 18 months but can extend to 24–30 months, depending on the complexity of the case.
  • Retention Phase: After corrections are complete, this phase ensures your teeth maintain their new positions. It generally lasts 18 to 24 months, though lifelong retention may be recommended in some cases for optimal stability.

As orthodontic adjustments involve gentle forces, it's normal to experience mild discomfort or soreness for a few days after each appointment, typically lasting 3–4 days. However, we ensure you that this mild inconvenience will go a long way in improving your oral health.

No, braces do not weaken your teeth. Once your teeth shift into their new positions, it may take a few weeks for them to feel fully stable and strong.

Orthodontic treatment usually begins around the ages of 12–13, once most permanent teeth have come in. However, certain issues that involve guiding jaw growth may require earlier intervention. To catch these problems early, it's recommended to schedule an initial evaluation at 7–8 years old, with a follow-up assessment at 11–12 years to determine the ideal time to start treatment.

That being said, patient do start treatments in their 20s & 30s based on their comfort.

The longevity of an orthodontic results largely depends on - how well the retention is maintained, growth patterns, and habits like mouth breathing or tongue thrusting. When all these factors are in check, re-treatment is usually not required. While people may experience some relapse (about 5%) over time, it’s typically not something to worry about. With the right care, your smile can stay beautiful for many years to come!
